55% of Indigenous bands do not have access to conventional communications technology

Become A Member Band

Each nation becomes a regional reseller. Each nation gets a tower. Each nation becomes an owner. Indigitel mission is to include First Nation Communities in the telecommunications industry. We are doing this to create additional infrastructure and economic opportunity for participating bands and their members. ‍
Get In Touch
Indigitel is interested in working with participating bands to create jobs and careers in the  expanding cellular telephone industry across Canada. Partnered bands will own and operate their own Telecommunications brands. Our customer service and tech departments can handle operations in unison. We are interested in putting First Nations students and qualified adults into jobs that teach sales and tech skills for long-lasting careers that benefit the band and surrounding communities.

Mobile Services - offering turn-key services to others to allow new resellers to quickly become operational by “plugging in” to different MNO services, whether Indigitel or Rogers/Bell/Telus.
Get In Touch
Bands that do not have coverage or who wish to build their own towers work with Indigitel to acquire spectrum. This modernizes cellular communication and creates revenue streams.

We can also discuss strategic affiliations that would produce profit-sharing opportunities. Indigitel will take the lead and involve the Band in each aspect of development and revenues provider.

Currently, Indigitel operates reselling services. Since Indigitel recently purchased spectrum, towers can be brought into service directly where available. Coverage will be limited to areas where towers exist,  roaming services can be discussed and negotiated. This can be better explained by contacting us below or calling us directly.

All participating bands become owners of Indigitel. Ownership means involvement in a national strategy and control over the direction of development on their lands. Indigitel will work in partnership to acquire additional spectrum and build infrastructure. Starting a new phone company, and transitioning from an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) to owning and operating your own infrastructure, is an ambitious and complex endeavor.

This transition involves a significant strategic shift, changing leasing network capacity from existing carriers to building and managing your own network. Strategic outlines can be discussed further after we begin working together. Please fill in the contact details below or call to speak to our team directly.

Spectrum Stewardship

Spectrum stewardship is the science of managing radio spectrum for the purposes of cellular communication for benefit of any indigenous community.

The following are some key points regarding this mandate:

ISED has announced its intention to offer unused spectrum to interested indigenous bands. Indigitel is here to help guide any nation through the process from allocation to network construction.

ISED is committed to the objective that all Canadian consumers, businesses and public institutions have access to the latest wireless telecommunications services in a competitive market. A robust wireless telecommunications industry drives the adoption and use of digital technologies and enhances the productivity of the Canadian economy. Wireless services are an important part of Canadians’ lives, whether they are accessing multi-media applications, conducting business while on the move, connecting with family and friends, or managing their finances. In recent years, these services have become increasingly integrated in society. Canadians expect them to be high quality, available in every region of the country, and competitively priced.

Spectrum is a critical component for wireless service providers. ISED views the release of spectrum as an opportunity to enable existing and new providers to expand services and enhance connectivity in underserved areas and support continued competition in the market. In the case of Indigenous communities, businesses and service providers, becoming a spectrum licence holder could support economic reconciliation and provide the ability to best serve the unique needs of their communities.

Greater access to spectrum is also expected to support the creation and expansion of new services and applications in vertical industries, many of which (such as agriculture, manufacturing and mining) are located in rural and remote areas. These industries may benefit from specialized uses, such as private networks, which enable a wide range of automated, robotic and remote operations such as real-time monitoring, dispatching and emergency notifications. While private networks would also enable operators to develop new business opportunities, these networks could also enhance safety and security for people, assets and infrastructure.

Satellite Solutions

Some communities are so remote that satellite solutions are necessary.

If you live in this type of community we can set up a cellular network that provides residents with traditional access on their existing phone numbers with a single satellite installation.

This type of network minimizes costs while dramatically increasing connectivity for the everyone in the region.
